"Pernilla 69" armchair designed in 1969 by Bruno Mathsson (1907-1988) published by Dux in Sweden. Rare version in cherry red leather, linen canvas and curved and varnished beech wood structure.

Headrest cushion adjustable in height using perforated leather straps. This organically designed armchair is one of the flagships of Swedish design. To design it, Bruno Mathsson sat in a mound of snow as comfortably as possible and then took the shapes of his footprint! With the Pernilla 69 armchair, Bruno Mathsson achieves a sort of ideal: creating a seat so comfortable that you hardly feel that you are sitting. We must admit that the hardest part is getting out! Bruno Mathsson is the father of Swedish design, the “Swedish Modern” of the 30s and 40s. Very ahead of its time, it was initially a failure with its very ergonomic strap chairs guided by its ideal of an organic and functional design, then it finally met with success. He is known for his Eva chairs (strap chair) and Pernilla, but beyond a comfortable seat, it is a whole way of life that he advocated for modern man: very close to nature, he was also an architect, through his simple, transparent houses. The lightness of its functional and ergonomic furniture, organic shapes and natural materials inspire many architects.
