On the night of December 12 to 13, 1981, Lech Walesa was arrested and transferred to Warsaw. On December 13, there was the coup d'état of General Wojciech Jaruzelski. A state of war is declared in Poland. On January 13, 1982, the first exhibition of the Image Bank was inaugurated at the Nina Dausset gallery. Jack Lang, Minister of Culture, visits her on January 15. The exhibition then toured France, passing in particular through Chalon-sur-Saône, Arles and Villeneuve d'Ascq. The National Contemporary Art Fund acquired twenty-nine of the original works offered by the artists to the Banque d'Ascq. Images, in order to participate in this support movement. On December 13, 1982, a year after the coup d'état, the exhibition was inaugurated at the National Foundation of Graphic and Plastic Arts, in Paris. Ten scholarships, the result of the sales, are officially awarded to ten Polish artists in exile.
